September 2024: It’s not goodbye; it’s…

Goodbyes are never easy, which is why we often say, "It's not goodbye; it's see you later."

Matthew, the Partner, lives in Queens, and Ian, the Advocate, recently moved to L.A. Bonded by their love of movies, sports, and meaningful conversations, they now find themselves staying connected through Messenger chats and regular FaceTime calls from coast to coast.

Ian says,

"I got to meet one of my best friends from my time in the city, Matthew. After moving away from NYC, I am so grateful for Matthew's continued friendship and support as I find my way in a new city."

Matthew says,

"He has a very kind personality and also he is very loyal to me."

From One Aspiring Pilot To A... Mother

Ry (Advocate, left) and Shanquette (Partner, right)

Ry, who first got involved with Do For One as an Advocate during the height of COVID while working as a flight attendant, is now living in Texas, pursuing her dream of becoming a pilot.

Meanwhile Shanquette remains the New Yorker that she is, continuing to care for her son in Brooklyn.

Shanquette shared how they've stayed connected and upon hearing each other's life updates, Shanquette says, "I’m really happy for her."

In return, Ry said,

"She has such a beautiful heart and embodies so much humor and grace. I am so glad we've been able to stay in touch despite the distance."

From One Poet To A...(another) Mother

Sarah (Advocate, pictured below left) moved to Ohio two years ago, around the time she was expecting her twin boys, Luke and Judah (pictured above!)

Sarah shares about a call she got from Ivy (Partner, pictured below right),

“It was sweet to hear her voice and just know how much she still cares about me from across the miles and even about my boys! I sure hope Ivy can meet them one day.”

The first day Sarah and Ivy met, Sarah gifted Ivy a copy of her original collection of poems titled, “Pandemic Prayers & Poetry”.

Ivy, who is also a poet, said,

“Today is the kind of day I will always remember.”

PRAY for our upcoming Info Session, that we may successfully recruit new Advocates for our current Partners who are still waiting to be matched from our waiting list.
