February 2025: the work of seasons
Winter brings a sense of longing—for warmth, for renewal. Yet, it is also a season of slow, unseen growth.
Our work is a lot like gardening, we may plant seeds, but growth isn’t ours to control. The land, rain, wind, and sun do their work in time.
Freely chosen, long-term relationships are much the same. We invest, we show up, we nurture—but deep roots take time to form.
That’s why Do For One’s work isn’t measured in weeks or months, but in seasons.
Maggie and Jess (Matched June 2021)
Jess’s mother, Ming, says that what has meant the most to her is seeing Jess's elevated sense of self-confidence and “self-value" over time.
Ming says, “Our government hands out for materialistic needs. Do For One is picking up where emotional and spiritual needs are so desperately needed.”
Gene and Jason (Matched in 2020)
Gene, the Partner, wrote in his poem,
”We had times of play,
We connected even when there was nothing to say,
Life has more meaning each day,
No longer are skies dark and gray,
We discovered a new way.
[I pray] that each Partner and their Advocate at year's end can say,
We grew.”
Chantel, Michele + Marion (Matched in 2016)
Chantel, the Advocate says,
"We even went on vacation together to Atlantic City. Before, Michele never wanted to get in my car - she had a fear of getting in and out of cars.
Now if we’re going anywhere she’s like ‘We’re taking your car right?’
Michele just grew wings and flew!”
